mage tears is a Toronto based solo musician from the UK who captures the most delicate side of the lo-fi/bedroom genre. Recording everything by herself using her phone, she has curated a simple yet beautiful DIY sound with her soft vocals, nylon-string guitar and theremin-like synth. Her gentle songs are a combination of sadness and hope, most often being described as nostalgic and bittersweet - lyrics of memories, experiences and random thoughts written down; melodies of brighter days to come and finding the good in the bad.

Growing up as a teenager in the Leeds music scene, one of mage tears' main inspirations was local antifolk artist Crywank - their raw and emotive lyrics hugely influenced her writing when she first began to learn guitar and write full songs at age 15. mage tears would go on to discover more DIY artists on Youtube, Bandcamp and Soundcloud, slowly finding community in these spaces as she started to upload her own music; she released her first EP 'old songs' in January of 2022. While primarily existing online with her art, she played live various times in her home city before eventually going on her first tour across Canada with Crywank in 2023.

Since the rising number of videos and posts across the internet using songs from her first album 'cats in the cold', mage tears has quickly grown in listeners over the last few years, becoming a new comfort artist to many. Her songs, alongside her cozy artwork and videography, are a safe place to stop and rest for a while.
