This is the first time since high school that I’ve really directed a “film” and it feels so gratifying to have crafted this project so meticulously from start to finish.
When I first wrote this song I didn’t believe in it, I thought it was boring and muddy and repetitive. But @1ack5on immediately saw something in it that I didn’t and took it to a place where it’s now my favorite song we’ve ever made!
When I talk about Mel’s drive in I am literally referring to a day in which I was on the verge of fainting from emotional and physical exhaustion (pictured in the first slide). the mediocre burger represented the rejuvenation my hometown best friends offered me during one of the darkest periods of my life. It’s a place that’s always been special to me because of my namesake and hometown, and it has never let me down.
